Resumen
Una forma de Rubus ulmifoliiis de La Gomera (Islas Cana-rias).-
Se discute el hallazgo de forma uni- o bifoliada de "zarza-mora"
encontrada en esta isla; con notas nomenclatóricas.
Among some plant material from the Isle of Gomera,
Canary Islands, placcd at my disposal by G. Kunkel, Gran
Canaria, for aetermination or veriíication there was a stran-ge
looking Rubus-plant collected in Barranco de la Meseta
(ca 730 m) on July 22. and again on August 18., 1975 (Kun-kel.
no. 10606, 10671). hccording to Runkel's stateinents
accompanying his plant material the plants were less armed
than other Rubi and less vigorous, the flowers were dark
roce, no fruits were obscrved, young leaves were undivided.
Severa1 plants were observed mingling with Rubus ulmifo-lius
or climbing up forest trees (up to 4 m), but young
plants were also seen. The habitat was a forest clearing in
the Laurisilva on moist barranco ground dominated by nor-mal
Rubus ulmifolius and Ageratina (Eupatorium) adeno-phora.
The small, undivided, roundish or nearly cordate or
reniform leaves (yet a single twig among the material bears
also faintlp lobed or bifoliate leaves!) place this plant in the
taxon Rubus ulmzfolius Schott f . or var. integrifolius (Lange)

Lange, type-material in Herb.C. (Lange 1865), repeated b
Willk. & Lange (1S80), but as Lange's specific name Rubu
mnoenus Portenschl. is a nomen nudum its legitimate nam
was established by Coutinho (1939) as Rubus ulmifoliu
Schott var. i.rztegrifoli.us (Lange) P.Cout., who mentions i
further from a single locality in Portugal: Extremadur~

In the relevant batological litterature it has not been possi
ble to trace this plant further except for the Rubus-mono
graph by Focke (1914), whose R.ulmifoLius Schott f.gamo
phyllus nov. form. ("Vidi ramulum sterilem foliis simplici
bus cordato-ovatis, nonnullis ad basin subtrilobis instruc
tum, an forma depauperata? Specimen valde imperfectum
Lissabon") inost likely covers the plant in question.
Within another Rudus-species, Ridaeus L., a correspon
ding or parallel form or variety is knowri to exist, tu-da)
generally known as Ridaeus L. f.obtzcsifolius (Willd.) Fockc
in Aschers. & Graebn. (1902). Synonyms are: R.obtusifoliu~
Willd., Berl. Baumz. 2. Aufl., p. 409, 1811, R.idaeus L. val
anomalus Arrh., Rub. Suec. Monogr., p. 14, 1839, R.leesi:

19% seems to be a noin. superfl. This plant is so far known
from Europe (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Germa-ny,
the Netherlands, Gr. Britain, SSSR. (Krym, from where
Willdenow's original plant is said to have come). and from
N. America (Vermont), see f.inst. Focke (1879-1910), As-chers.
& Graebn. (1902), Fernald (1900), Nilsson (1927),
and Hegi (1961).
