Observatorio quiere ser un homenaje al cielo de Canarias, un punto óptimo de observación celeste del planeta. Este
homenaje de doble vertiente, real y metafórica, quiere reubicarse en esta ocasión en la observación misma, tomando
como pretexto paradigmático el observatorio astronómico canario, que compite actualmente con Hawai en la instalación
del telescopio mayor hasta ahora construido.
Esta nueva etapa que el C.\AM inicia con esta nueva ATLÁNTICA abre a la vez nuestra habitual observación triconti-nental
a tres miradas que se multiplican en distintas direcciones, conservando intacto el deseo de continuar con las líneas
fundacionales del CAAM, que hicieron posible esta revista y también con las culturas que le han dado un perfil abierto
y plural por el que es conocida en las dos orillas atlánticas y más allá de ellas. Con este nuevo desafío pretendemos, en
definitiva, asimilar la longitud y precisión de la mirada científica y metafísica a un tiempo y adoptarlas para poder continuar
difundiendo, a través de este Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno y de su revista, el arte de nuestro tiempo en y con
Canarias en el contexto global en que vivimos, cada día más complejo y diverso, siempre abierto a la observación.
Observatory is meant as a tribute to the Canary Island sky, an optimum spotfor the celestial observation ofthe planet. On this
occasion, the twofold tribute - real and metaphorical— seeks a new location in observation as such, availing itself ofthe
paradigmatic pretext ofthe Canary Island Observatory, now rwalling Hawaii with the installation ofthe largest telescope ever built.
The new stage commenced by CAAM with the publication ofits new A TLÁNTICA opens up our usual tri-continental
observation to three visions which multiply in different directions. Nevertheless, nothing has changed in the desire to carry on with
CAAM's foundational Unes ofaction, to which it owes its existence, and with the cultures that have traced the open, pluralprofile
for which it is known on both sides ofthe Atlantic and beyond. In a word, with this new challenge, our aim is to assimilate the
scope and precisión ofboth the scientific and the metaphysical visión; and to adopt them so as to continué disseminating, via Centro
Atlántico de Arte Moderno and its review, the art ofour time within and with the Canary Islands in the global context in which we
bve; a context which is becoming increasingly complex and diverse, increasingly open to observation.
