CoCo: I wanted to work with the vol-canic
structures in Lanzarote. I have a
strong respect for nature, so I want to
do something that will work in with
what is already present and thriving. I
want to make installations around the
volcanic structures and the caves. It's
going to be an improvisation, a con-tinuation
of something Mosco and I
started when we worked together in
Puerto Rico.*
Mosco is pretty much a spark piug for
me. I'm cióse to 48 years oíd, but I
stili have a lot to learn. Working with
him has given me an opportunity to
improvise and incorpórate some of
the new techniques. With Mosco, I'm
doing a 360'. Our collaborations
transport me to when I was that age.
There's a lot of good vibes going on
when I'm working with him. The work
comes out of a lot of the things that
we agree on pertaining to life; the
purpose of existence, social and poli-tical
issues. We share the same ener-gy.
I'm not even sure how oíd Mosco
is. I think he might be 25 now. I just
think of him as being the age he was
when I first met him, which is 22.
Mosco: This movement is about being
aggressive and making your mark. It
will always be like that. When you're
working on the street, the adrenalin is
running at a different temperature.
You do it and you do it once; very sel-dom
do you have the option of going
back to it. At Lanzarote, we'll have an
opportunity to make things in a different
way.
The space is going to make it for me:
when I see the space I will know what
we need to do. We plan to do the
same thing as what we did in Puerto
Rico. We will check out the área, get
a feeling for the space, and let the
space tell us what needs to be done
on it. I would like to créate a structure
with the elements on hand. A mural,
maybe. Right now, I'm doing large-scale
paintings and adding texture to
them. I'm making them 3-dimen-sional,
with objects coming out of a fíat
surface. I want to do something really
big there, something on a really mas-sive
scale. I would like to walk around
and find an abandoned structure and
start painting on it, for example.
We're going to take a lot of pictures,
so maybe we would put some of
those photographs in the paintings.
Also, I would like to add elements
from the city, like street signs: "One-way
Street". It all depends on what
we find when we get there. I cannot
relate anything l've done to what l'd
like to do there. I want to let the
island speak to me, start collecting
things, and make a big installation.

CoCo: Quería bregar con las estructuras
volcánicas de Lanzarote. Tengo un
respeto profundo para la naturaleza,
quiero hacer algo con lo que ya esta
presente y prosperando. Quiero hacer
intervenciones alrededor de las cuevas
y estructuras volcánicas. Seria
una improvisación, una continuación
de algo que Mosco y yo comenzamos
cuando trabajamos juntos en Puerto
Rico.
Mosco es algo como una bujía para
mi. Tengo casi 48 anos de edad, pero
todavía tengo mucho que aprender.
Trabajando con el me ha dado la
oportunidad de improvisar e incorporar
algunas de las nuevas técnicas.
Con el, estoy haciendo una vuelta
360'. Nuestras colaboraciones me
transportan a cuando tenía esa edad.
Hay muchas vibraciones positivas
cuando trabajamos juntos. La obra
sale de muchas de las cosas en las
que estamos de acuerdo: en cuanto a
la vida, el propósito de la existencia,
temas sociales y políticos.
Disfrutamos la misma energía. Yo ni
se que edad tiene. Creo que ya puede
tener 25. Solo lo veo de la edad que
tenía cuando primero lo conocí, que
eran 22.
Mosco: Este movimiento se trata de
ser agresivo y hacer su marca.
Siempre será así. Cuando trabajas en
la calle, la adrenalina esta corriendo a
una temperatura diferente. Lo haces y
lo haces una vez; raro que tengas la
opción de regresar a la obra. Sobre
Lanzarote, tendríamos la oportunidad
de hacer las cosas en una forma diferente.
El espacio me le va hacer: cuando
vea el espacio sabré lo que tengo que
hacer Planeamos lo mismo que hicimos
en Puerto Rico'. Revisaremos el
área, sentiremos el lugar, y dejaremos
que el espacio nos diga lo que se
necesite hacérsele. Me gustaría crear
una estructura con los elementos
integrales que se presenten. Quizás
un mural. Ahora mismo, estoy haciendo
pinturas grandes y añadiéndole
textura. Las estoy haciendo con las 3
dimensiones, con objetos que sobresalen
de la superficie plana. Quiero
hacer algo verdaderamente enorme
ahí, algo realmente escala masiva. Por
ejemplo, me gustaría caminar y
encontrar una estructura abandonada
y comenzar a pintarla. Vamos tomar
muchas fotos, y a lo mejor incluir las
fotos en las obras. También, me
gustaría añadirle elementos de la ciudad,
como rótulos: "Una Vía" Todo
depende de lo que encontremos
cuando lleguemos. No puedo relacionar
lo que he hecho con lo que quisiera
hacer allí. Quiero dejar que la
isla me hable, colectar cosas, y hacer
una intervención grande.
